We believe young people play an important role in the future of their local community.
That’s why we’re working to build and to keep the strong relationships we have with primary and secondary schools around the UK.
In addition to being the proud sponsors of the National Kwik Cricket Competition we are also encouraging schoolchildren to learn about environmental issues through our Go Green for Schools initiative.
Our Go Green for Schools scheme is a fun and unique way for everyone to help tackle the problem of plastic carrier bags, and reduce the 150 million used in the UK every week.
Under Go Green, customers receive a voucher every time they reuse any carrier bag. These can be collected by or donated to local schools, who can redeem them for ‘green’ educational prizes. These range from aluminium-can crushers to wind turbines, and can be used alongside our downloadable work sheets and lesson plans.
In 2008 almost 5,000 schools have registered to take part compared to 2,800 in 2007. The scheme which will see registration draw to a close at the end of June has benefited customers and in return, local schools, with over 5.5 million vouchers.
Unlike some other voucher schemes, you don’t have to save thousands of vouchers to claim a single prize. Schools can collect educational material for pupils with 100 vouchers or up to 3,000 vouchers for more hi-tech equipment. Throughout recycle week in 2008, customers will receive double vouchers, helping schools even further.

We are the proud sponsors of the National Kwik Cricket Competition, a fantastic community event involving 130,000 kids from 40 counties across the UK.
Kwik Cricket is a simple game for children aged five to 11, and fits in with key stage one and two of the national curriculum, but with an emphasis on enjoyment and participation. This means that children of all abilities can take part, have fun and get healthy at the same time.
