We recognise that it’s our people who make ASDA such a special place to work and shop.
We invest heavily in training and development to help our colleagues do their job to the very best of their ability. And when they do, they can enjoy a range of rewards and benefits.
Flexibility is also a key issue for many of our colleagues and we offer flexible working to help them make time for their friends and family outside of work. And with excellent maternity, paternity and adoption leave on offer colleagues can enjoy a great work-life balance.

Every day at ASDA we like to get together for a huddle over a cup of coffee to let colleagues know they’ve done a great job and to focus on priorities for the day.
Every three months, the team at ASDA House get together for a big huddle — known as the Early Brunch — to let everyone know what’s going on across the business, and for our Executive team to say thanks to the people who’ve performed exceptionally well.
And because we respect the values and contribution of everyone in the ASDA family, we have a programme of listening groups which, together with our internal survey called ‘We’re Listening’, enables us to constantly improve the service we offer.

Huddles help keep things moving here at ASDA.
Everyone at ASDA enjoys a range of training and development opportunities, from our relaxed and informal induction days, to our clearly structured career pathways, which give colleagues the opportunity to develop through the ranks whether it's in ASDA House or on the shop floor.
It’s all about making sure we keep growing as a business by continually growing our talent.

Career development is good for both our colleagues and our business.
Our colleagues enjoy a range of rewards and benefits. The colleague discount card, issued after 12 weeks continuous employment, gives 10% off ASDA (and Wal-Mart) shopping. We also have special offers for colleagues on things like days out, holidays, cars, and private medical cover.
What’s more, we have instant recognition and discretionary bonus schemes, where colleagues’ hard work and good ideas can receive on-the-spot rewards, such as a bunch of flowers, a music CD, or even an extra day’s holiday.
After six months’ service, you can join our shares plans and become a Wal-Mart shareholder. Our Colleague Share Ownership Plan gives you share options on Wal-Mart shares worth 25% of your basic pay.
And if you make monthly savings with one of our Sharesave plans, you'll receive your savings after three years plus a tax-free bonus which can be used to buy discounted Wal-Mart shares.
ASDA also offers a contributory pension which helps you plan for your retirement, however far away it might be. And we provide life assurance of up to four times a colleague’s base pay.

ASDA help you plan for your retirement, however far away it might be.
We try to keep working at ASDA as flexible as possible. For example, on your child’s first day at school, we’ll give you up to three hours off to make sure they settle in. And if you have a child under 6 — or under 18 with a disability — you can apply to permanently change your working hours to suit the needs of your family.
We also know that problems arise when you least expect them, so if you’re facing a family emergency, or a difficult time, you can take up to four weeks of unpaid leave. You also have the option of extending this to eight weeks during the summer holidays.

On your child's first day at school, we’ll give you up to three hours off to make sure they settle in.
Maternity, paternity and adoption leave are all available to members of the ASDA family. Mothers–to–be are eligible for up to 52 weeks statutory leave, plus time off for things like antenatal appointments.
Fathers-to-be can choose between two weeks paid leave or up to three months unpaid.

We’ll offer you flexible working to give you time for your family.
We aim to treat every member of our diverse team exactly the same — and our customers too for that matter — regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic origin, age, beliefs or whether they have a disability. Career opportunities and promotions at ASDA are based entirely on merit.
In fact, we’ve been awarded the two–tick disability symbol from Job Centre plus for making sure that people with disabilities are fully supported in the working environment.
And we are also the proud partner of choice for Remploy, the organisation that helps overcome barriers to employment for disabled people.

We ensure everyone in our diverse team has equal opportunities for career progression and development.
